Research emphasis:
Origins of ALS and related motor neuron diseases. The Center emphasizes therapeutic trials searching for improved forms of treatment for ALS.
Clinical trials in progress:
1. Lilly-sponsored pilot trial of its glutamate inhibitor, run at only two sites in the US.; enrollment ongoing.
2. Sanofi-sponsored trial; enrollment completed.
3 Myotrophin Early Access Program; enrollment ongoing.
4. Amgen-sponsored intrathecal BDNF; enrollment expected to begin late summer-early fall 1998.
