The center is active in the Western ALS group, and is enrolling patients in the ALS C.A.R.E. (Clinical Assessment, Research, and Education) Program. The clinic also has a library available for the patients and families, with a variety of books, videos and other resource materials. The MDA/ALS Center of Dallas is one of the 15 comprehensive care and research centers for ALS recognized nationally by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Phase III Gabapentin Study, Extended Access Program for BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), Extended Access Program for IGF-1 (Myotrophin, Insulin-like growth factor). Also, clinical trials in Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), another motor neuron disease.

The MDA/ALS Center at Baylor was formed in 1983 as the first multi-disciplinary ALS clinic in the country. There are over 25 clinic team members, including 4 neurologists, a pulmonologist, 4 psychologists, 2 physical therapists, 2 occupational therapists, 2 speech pathologists, a dietitian, respiratory therapist, social worker, a nurse Clinic Coordinator, a physician assistant Certified Clinical Research Coordinator, as well as voluntary attorneys and a financial planner to assist patients at every clinic.
